Compositing, Lighting & Shading Reel Breakdown

Here’s a breakdown for my latest reel:

0:00:01:26 through 0:00:42:15
After Earth feature film. I was a Nuke compositor on this film. I also did a little bit of look development and Maya technical direction for the film.

0:00:42:16 through 0:00:58:11
The Darkest Hour feature film. This film was shot in stereo. I composited the aliens into the background plates. This included adding interactive light into the plate and color correcting both the plate and the aliens. I also positioned the aliens correctly in stereo (depth) and troubleshot and corrected for stereoscopic issues in the plate and the aliens.

0:00:58:12 through 0:01:05:06
You Don’t Mess With the Zohan feature film. I was the Lighting TD on these shots. I created shaders and lighting to match the live action plate. I also made what was on the set correctly reflect in the glass and metal.

0:01:05:07 through 0:01:08:05
You Don’t Mess With the Zohan feature film. On this shot, I took separate motion tracking data for both the actor’s face and for the rubber-band-man’s face and, using this data, I projected the actor’s face onto matchimated 3D geometry and rendered it from the perspective of the camera, putting the actor’s head on the rubber-band-man’s body.

0:01:08:06 through 0:01:18:09
The Last Mimzy feature film. I was the Lighting TD on these shots. I created shaders and lighting to match the live action plate. In addition, I animated and designed the motion for the box parts opening.

0:01:18:10 through 0:01:22:21
Pepsi ads. I was the Lighting TD on these shots, which were used in multiple ads. I created shaders and lighting to match the real can and cup. In addition, I animated and the can and cup and bubbles and did the compositing in Nuke.

0:01:22:22 through 0:01:30:18
Logitech ad. I did lighting, shading and compositing, as well as animation and physics simulation on the headphone wires in these shots.

0:01:30:19 through 0:01:39:24
Glade Air Freshener commercial. I did all of the lighting, shading, and compositing for these shots. This included creating shaders for the gingerbread and icing, and matching reflections into the plate. The animated cookie had to match the real cookies in the plate, side by side. I also created and animated gingerbread crumbs falling from the man into the plate.

0:01:39:25 through 0:01:51:15
Brisk Star Wars Commercial: Yoda vs. Darth Maul. I did all of the look development, lighting, shading and compositing for this TV commercial, which aired on TV and in theaters in 2012.

0:01:51:16 through 0:01:58:07
Medical Animations for corporate presentations. I supervised the lighting and shading for numerous medical illustration animations. I created the look development and devised the methods and techniques to deploy among the team of artists. I also lit and created the shaders for many shots, including the ones shown.

0:01:58:08 through 0:02:03:22
Future Combat Systems presentation for Boeing. I did the lighting, shading and compositing for these shots of military tanks, on live-action plates.
